Is War Coming? Christian Perspective on Global Events

27 Feb, 2025

Lately, the world feels like it’s on edge. Wars and conflicts are escalating, and technology is advancing at an alarming rate. Israel is at war, tensions are rising in the Middle East, and Russia is still battling Ukraine. At the same time, artificial intelligence (AI) is developing at a pace that both amaze and terrify me. With systems like ChatGPT, Gemini AI, and other advanced AI models offering limitless intelligence, I wonder if we are stepping into a new, uncontrolled era.

As a pastor, I can’t ignore how much of this sounds like what the Bible warned us about. But does this mean the world is ending soon? Are we witnessing prophecy unfold? Let’s take a closer look at what Scripture says about war, the Antichrist, and the signs of the end times—and what this means for us today.

What the Bible Says About War in the Last Days

Jesus gave a clear warning about the signs of the end times. In Matthew 24:6-8, He said:

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

This passage reminds us that war has always been a part of history, but in the last days, the intensity and frequency will increase—like birth pains before delivery. Let’s look at the conflicts happening today and why they matter.

1. The War in Israel and Gaza

Israel has always been at the center of biblical prophecy. Right now, Israel is engaged in conflict with Hamas in Gaza, and tensions are rising with other nations. Reports suggest that Egypt is increasing its military presence near Israel, raising fears of an even bigger war.

Many Christians see this as fulfillment of end-time prophecy. The Bible speaks of nations gathering against Israel in the last days (Zechariah 12:3). Some even believe this could be leading to the famous Gog and Magog War in Ezekiel 38-39, where nations like Persia (modern-day Iran) and other powers will come against Israel.

Could we be approaching that moment? It’s too early to say, but one thing is certain—Israel remains at the center of global tensions, just as the Bible predicted.

2. The Russia-Ukraine War and the Role of ‘Rosh’

The war between Russia and Ukraine continues, with devastating consequences. Interestingly, some scholars believe that Russia is connected to biblical prophecy under the name “Rosh” in Ezekiel 38.

Ezekiel 38:2-4 speaks of a leader named Gog from the land of Magog, a powerful northern nation that will be involved in an end-times war. Some believe this points to Russia and its growing influence in global affairs.

Whether or not Russia is specifically mentioned in prophecy, its aggressive expansion and military presence are definitely shaping the world stage. This war has already caused economic turmoil, rising energy prices, and food shortages—effects that could spread worldwide.

3. China, Taiwan, and a Coming Global Conflict?

Beyond Israel and Russia, there are growing tensions between China and Taiwan. China has openly threatened military action, and many fear that if war breaks out, the U.S. and its allies would be forced to intervene. A conflict in Asia could spark a full-scale global war.

Revelation 16:12 mentions the “Kings of the East” playing a role in the final battles. Could China be part of that? Time will tell. But the fact remains—wars are increasing, and global tensions are boiling over.

The Rise of the Antichrist: Who Could He Be?

The Bible warns that in the last days, a powerful world leader—the Antichrist—will rise, deceive many, and bring global control (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, Revelation 13).

Many have speculated about his identity. Some believe he will come from Europe, others think he could emerge from the Middle East or even a major tech company. Some even ask:

  • Could the Antichrist be a political leader already in power?
  • Could AI play a role in his rise?
  • Could the mark of the beast be linked to a future technology that controls buying and selling?

While we don’t have all the answers, the Bible is clear—the Antichrist will use deception, signs, and wonders to mislead the world. In an age where technology can create deepfakes, manipulate news, and spread lies, we must be more discerning than ever.

Artificial Intelligence and the Explosion of Knowledge

AI has changed everything. Systems like ChatGPT, Gemini AI, and others can now think, write, analyse data, and even predict human behavior. Elon Musk himself has warned about AI, calling it “summoning a demon.”

What does the Bible say about this?

Daniel 12:4 gives us a clue:

“But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.”

This verse suggests that in the last days, knowledge will increase rapidly. That’s exactly what’s happening. AI has given us limitless access to information, but with it comes a new problem—misinformation, deception, and even the potential for control over people’s lives.

Could AI be used as a tool for global control? It’s possible. Revelation 13 speaks of a system where no one can buy or sell without the mark of the beast. While we’re not there yet, we can see how technology could be used to track and control people worldwide.

What Should We Do?

With everything happening, how should Christians respond?

  1. Stay Rooted in the Word – The Bible is our guide. If we’re not grounded in truth, we can easily be deceived.
  2. Avoid Fear, But Stay Awake – Jesus told us not to panic (Matthew 24:6), but He also said to watch and pray (Luke 21:36).
  3. Preach the Gospel – Now more than ever, people need hope. The world is searching for answers—let’s point them to Jesus.
  4. Be Wise About Technology – AI, digital currency, and surveillance are tools that could be used for good or for evil. Stay informed, but don’t be consumed by fear.

Final Thoughts

There’s no doubt that the world is changing rapidly. Wars are increasing. Technology is advancing. Morality is collapsing. All of this aligns with what the Bible said would happen in the last days.

Does this mean Jesus is returning tomorrow? We don’t know. But what we do know is that prophecy is unfolding before our eyes. The question isn’t if the end will come because it surely will. The question is, Are we ready?

If you’re a believer, now is the time to grow in faith and reach others with the gospel. If you’re not a believer, I encourage you to look at the evidence. The Bible is not a book of myths—it has accurately predicted events thousands of years in advance. The signs are all around us.

Jesus is coming soon. The world is changing. But one thing never changes—God’s love for you. The time to seek Him is now.
